This research focuses towards developing an electrocardiogram for home use. The underlying objective is to make this device simple, portable and cheap without compromising reliability and accuracy. Further, the data transfer from the user end to the monitoring station is done through wireless gateways which make the device free of wires and other attachments. Two methods of display were experimented and tested. One is the short term monitor, where the heart rate is calculated using real time data and printed as a number. The second method is continuous monitoring in which the EKG wave is reproduced on the computer using the receiver output. Both these methods use the same sampling rate but differ in the math involved and the number of data packets transmitted. There is also a provision for logging the numeric values of the signal into an Excel file which can be used for later analysis.
