The ability to administer and interpret psychological assessment instruments represents one of the core skills distinguishing psychologists from other mental health professionals. Psychologists working and researching in assessment are reporting concern about an unfortunate trend toward decreasing levels of skill and interest among contemporary graduate psychology students in this important specialty area (Anastasi, 1993; Kurtz, 2006; Weiner, 2006). The current project was designed to counter this disturbing trend in some small way, by developing a multimedia tool designed to enhance course lecture and reading related to one widely-used psychological instrument, the MMPI-2. It was hoped that a DVD capturing three nationally known MMPI-2 experts would prove to be engaging and intellectually stimulating, promoting student interest in psychological concepts, increase critical thinking, and enhance learning (Dorris a Ducey, 1978; Fleming, Piedmont a Hiam, 1990; Hart a Stevens, 1995; Konrad a Yoder, 2000; Mazur, 1999; Nissim-Sabat, 1979). Master's level graduate students viewed a four-segment DVD, then completed a survey assessing the film's ability to meet the stated objectives. Overall, the results demonstrate that the DVD did, in fact, make a contribution toward these educational goals.
