This publication reports on the WHO MONICA (MONItoring CArdiovascular disease) research project which examined data trends in coronary disease, stroke, and risk factors in men and women. Carried out over 23 years, this extensive medical research project covered 38 research groups in 21 countries in Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America. Chapters look at: the background and development of the project, administrative data used including mortality, demographics and health services, coronary event registration and coronary care, stroke registration, populations surveys, data handling and quality assessment, as well as information on project studies, populations, publications and graphics. It also includes two CD-ROMs containing documents from the MONICA website manuals, questionnaires and other reports, as well as a number of slides and a random sample of the MONICA database.WHO MONK \ Project.
