This Proceedings volume deals with the uses and problems of simulation in a wide variety of fields and provides a comprehensive overview of the subject. The 130 internationally contributed papers cover the methodologies and algorithms of simulation techniques and simulation tools --- including both hardware and software. The simulation of well-defined systems is covered, as is the simulation of ill-defined systems. In addition to the more advanced methodologies and new mathematical concepts discussed here emphasis is given to the advanced information processing techniques.
