Market orientation measures the degree to which firms generate market intelligence, disseminate the market intelligence across the organization, and respond to the market intelligence. This study investigated the relationship between market orientation and firm performance of 945 firms enrolled in the Small Business Administration's 8(a) Business Development Program for minority-owned firms. The results of this study indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between market orientation and firm performance. The findings also suggest that there is no significant difference in market orientation based on the firm's number of years in the 9-year program or the firm's primary type of business.
